Elm City Social Whiskey Dinner Series by Chef John Brennan

Join our Executive Chef/Owner John Brennan and Industry Experts on the balcony at Elm City Social in New Haven for our Whiskey Dinner Series! We will be hosting three, six course dinners, where you can taste reserve, rare, and specially allocated whiskey, rye whiskey, and bourbons. Irish Whiskey Dinner, March 17th, 2023, 6pm - 9pm

Our celebration of Saint Patrick’s Day is starting on March 6th with Brennan’s Pub-Up; and concluding on Saint Patrick’s Day with this amazing 6 course tasting dinner!

What to expect during the tasting:

Upon arrival you will be greeted by an expert in Irish Whiskey and Chef John Brennan. Chef Brennan will then talk to you about his love for rye whiskey, whiskey, bourbon, and his menu for the night. You will then work your way through our six (6) course tasting menu, including two cocktails (first and last course). Our Irish Whiskey expert will walk you through the tasting of each whiskey; including the history, the process in which it is made, and flavor profile.

We will then conclude the dinner with a small recap of what was tasted and answer any questions you may have.

Tasting: Tullamore Dew 12, 14, 18 , xo cask, Jameson 18, Jameson cold brew

 
 
 

Pappy Van Winkle Dinner, April 2nd, 2023, 6 pm - 9pm

If you like whiskey, or bourbon you’ve heard the name Pappy Van Winkle and how hard it is to come by. We had started our collection of the Pappy Van Winkle bottles at the beginning of 2020 in hopes to host a dinner. Then the pandemic happened, a bottle or two may have been consumed not knowing what was going to happen. We have finally built our collection again and are eager to host this dinner!

What to expect during the tasting:

Upon arrival you will be greeted by an Industry Expert and Chef John Brennan. Chef Brennan will then talk to you about his love for bourbon in particular Pappy Van Winkle and his menu for the night. You will then work your way through our six (6) course tasting menu, including a cocktail (first course). Our expert will walk you through the tasting of each whiskey; including the history, the process in which it is made, and flavor profile.

We will then conclude the dinner with a small recap of what was tasted and answer any questions you may have.

Tasting: Pappy Van Winkle 10, 12, 13, 15, 20 and Elm City Socials exclusive barrel of Buffalo Trace (barreled and bottled for ECS)

$225 ++per person

 

Whiskey Education Classes in CT

We offer classes in the restaurant that teach you about whiskey; from how its distilled, to the types of whiskeys and how to tell them apart, to making a few whiskey based cocktails.  By the time your class is over you’ll have a better appreciation and some new knowledge about this popular and intricate spirit.  We’ll also make sure to sample some food that pairs great with the spirits and cocktails you’ll taste throughout the class.
